It was a good run, but the Solon Springs Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Cherry on the road by a decisive 90-71 margin. While losing is never fun, Solon Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 158th in Wisconsin, while Cherry is ranked 14th in Minnesota).
Cherry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Asuma led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten assists. Asuma hasn't dropped below eight assists for four straight games. Noah Asuma was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with three steals.
Solon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Cherry, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Solon Springs will face off against Bayfield at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cherry, they will head out on the road to take on North Woods at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in North Woods' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matchups.
