The West Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past South 70-20 at home. That looming 70-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for West yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikayla Villalobos, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and five steals. Villalobos is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Caleigh Adams, who scored 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
West's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for South, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West will square off against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Golden Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 907th, while the Vikings are ranked 396th). As for South, they will head out on the road to face off against the Blades at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
