The home team had come away the winner the last four times Greene Central and Kinston had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Rams were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 32-31 to the Vikings. Despite 136 more yards than the Vikings, the Rams couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Ayden - Grifton will have to contain Dejuan Cobb as he made an impact in Greene Central's last game. He rushed for 191 yards and three scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Joshua Cetnar, who threw for 120 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Nick Avent for the heroic effort on defense: he. Greene Central didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.
Greene Central's defensive line didn't let Tyler Jones, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Travion Melton refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Greene Central got some further help from Melton: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (2.5 for loss).
