The Purchase Line Red Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 71-42 loss at the hands of Portage. Purchase Line has not had much luck with Portage recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Purchase Line still got an impressive performance from Brooklyn Syster, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Purchase Line were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portage only racked up 21 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jenna Burkett, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Bednarksi, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Purchase Line now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Portage, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Purchase Line will be home for the holidays to greet Penns Manor at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Penns Manor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Purchase Line in Pennsylvania (Penns Manor is ranked 88th, while Purchase Line is ranked 382nd). As for Portage, they will head out on the road to face off against Cambria Heights at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cambria Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
