Basketball Game Preview: West Catholic Burrs vs. Nazareth Academy

Having just played yesterday, the West Catholic Burrs will head out on the road to face off against Nazareth Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nazareth Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on West Catholic, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, West Catholic blew past Central, posting a 58-29 victory.

Nyla Coleman and Ny'La Haynesworth were among the main playmakers for West Catholic as the former posted 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals and the latter scored nine points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Haynesworth a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Milan Trusty, who earned eight points and three steals.

West Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only racked up two assists.

Meanwhile, Nazareth Academy played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Archbishop Carroll, falling 64-30. While losing is never fun, Nazareth Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Archbishop Carroll is ranked 28th).

West Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Nazareth Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

West Catholic came up short against Nazareth Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 63-57. Can West Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
