The Northeastern Clinton Cougars pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 85-66 fall against Moriah. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (58), Northeastern Clinton still had to take the loss.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Brown, who scored 26 points. Max Rabideau was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Cooper Allen was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds for Moriah. Allen hasn't dropped below 20 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Logan Gilbo, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Northeastern Clinton's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Moriah, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern Clinton will square off against Beekmantown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beekmantown will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Northeastern Clinton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Moriah, they will head out on the road to take on Northern Adirondack at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Moriah's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
