Basketball Recap: Mission College Prep's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mission College Prep waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 45-28 win over the San Marcos Royals. Given Mission College Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while San Marcos is ranked 487th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mission College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mary Marsalek led the charge by putting up eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Marsalek is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Keahi Guy was another key player, posting 11 points and four steals.

Mission College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Mission College Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for San Marcos, their loss dropped their record down to 6-7.

Mission College Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-36 defeat against Thousand Oaks on the 21st. As for San Marcos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-43 loss against St. Bonaventure on the 21st.
