The Comenius Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 51 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Monday with ease, bagging a 85-23 win over Riverwalk Academy. The victory was just what Comenius needed coming off of a 98-53 loss in their prior contest.
Comenius found their leader in underclassman Donovin Jones, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The match was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Priester, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Comenius' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Riverwalk Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Comenius won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Charlotte T at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully South Charlotte T focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. Riverwalk Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McBee at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
