The Minden Whippets were the 46-39 winner over the Southern Valley Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Minden took a 33-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Valley on Thursday.
Makenna Betty and Makenna Starkey certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Betty scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds, while Starkey scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Minden's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Southern Valley, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Minden will head out on the road to face off against Ogallala on Saturday. As for Southern Valley, they will be playing at home against Elm Creek on Friday. Hopefully Elm Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
