The Parkway West HOYAS waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They escaped with a win against Nueva Esperanza by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. For Parkway West, this counts as revenge for the 51-42 defeat Nueva Esperanza walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.
Leading Parkway West to victory were Nymira Bryant and Kemba Brown. Bryant scored 18 points, while Brown scored 19 points. The game was Bryant's eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Parkway West pushed their record up to 4-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Nueva Esperanza, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkway West will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hill Freedman World Academy at 3:15 p.m. on January 22nd. Hill Freedman World Academy's defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so Parkway West's offense will have their work cut out for Parkway West. As for Nueva Esperanza, they will be playing at home against Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
