Hickory Grove Christian was handed a two-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Liberty Preparatory Christian on Friday. Everything went Hickory Grove Christian's way against Liberty Preparatory Christian as Hickory Grove Christian made off with a 58-36 victory. Hickory Grove Christian pushed the score to 48-20 by the end of the third, a deficit Liberty Preparatory Christian cut but never quite recovered from.
Hickory Grove Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barack Jones, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals. Tristan Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, even though Hickory Christian Academy scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, Asheville School (Independent) still came out on top. Asheville School (Independent) enjoyed a cozy 76-61 victory over Hickory Christian Academy. The victory was familiar territory for Asheville School (Independent) who now have three in a row.
Miki Gacic was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deniz Oklu, who scored ten points.
Hickory Grove Christian's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-21. As for Asheville School (Independent), their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
Hickory Grove Christian suffered a grim 72-49 defeat to Asheville School (Independent) in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Hickory Grove Christian, Gus Yalden (who scored 18 points along with six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
