The Southbridge Pioneers will be playing at home against the Oxford Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Southbridge has not done well against Bartlett recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Southbridge managed a 51-47 victory over Bartlett.
Meanwhile, Oxford beat Prouty 61-51 on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Oxford's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Prouty is ranked 32nd).
Brady Marqoupis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kofi Owusu, who scored 15 points.
Southbridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Oxford, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Southbridge was dealt a bruising 87-47 defeat at the hands of Oxford in their previous meeting on January 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Marqoupis, who scored 40 points. Now that Southbridge knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
