The Redwood Rangers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 60-51 victory over Golden West on Tuesday. The win was just what Redwood needed coming off of a 54-25 loss in their prior match.
Emma Vargas was Redwood's leading scorer, having posted two points.
Golden West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tie Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Venegas, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The win got Redwood back to even at 13-13. As for Golden West, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.
Redwood will head out on the road to challenge Mt. Whitney at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Whitney is coming into the matchup with four straight defeats at home, meaning Redwood will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. Golden West will take on El Diamante at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in El Diamante's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
