Anderson and New Castle are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Anderson Indians will head out on the road to challenge the New Castle Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Anderson will be strutting in after a victory while New Castle will be coming in after a defeat.
Anderson put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They breezed by Logansport on the road to the tune of 74-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Anderson has posted since December 20, 2023.
Jacelyn Starks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 41 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Gabby Douglass was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, New Castle's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Mt. Vernon on the road and fell 54-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Castle in their matchups with Mt. Vernon: they've now lost five in a row.
Anderson's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for New Castle, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19.
Anderson strolled past New Castle when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 70-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anderson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
