Baseball Recap: Mogollon Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Mogollon barely beat Valley Union the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Blue Devils on Thursday. Considering the Mustangs have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Parker Reidhead, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Cort Porter was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Mogollon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Union struck out nine times.

The win (which was Mogollon's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Union, they moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mogollon will challenge Phoenix Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season. As for Valley Union, they will square off against Duncan at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildkats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.8 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
