Classical Academy extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 12-13. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maranatha Christian Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Caimans have suffered against the Eagles since May 8, 2023.
Jax Strand was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Trevor Hoff was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Classical Academy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 9-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Falk, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Maranatha Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
On Maranatha Christian's side, Shane Piester made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Piester was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Browne, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
While Classical Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
