Phinn Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Stevenson is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. Thomas was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Reggie Bell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Jacob Hall was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Greenfield and Pacific Grove, and Pacific Grove kept the tradition alive. The Bruins fell 7-4 to the Breakers on Friday.
Nate Hernandez and Danny Nava did some serious damage despite the final result: Hernandez went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Nava got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Ramos, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Stevenson's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season.
Stevenson came up short against Greenfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
