The Lincoln East Spartans waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 win over Norfolk. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lincoln East also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Norfolk's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skylar Indra, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Russell Aubrey, who scored 14 points.
Lincoln East's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Norfolk, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln East will take on the Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Papillion-LaVista South presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in Nebraska (the Titans are ranked 30th, while the Spartans are ranked 127th). As for Norfolk, they will be playing at home against the Bison at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Buena Vista is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
