Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Layton walked away with it. They were the clear victors by  a  41-16 margin over the Cedar Valley Aviators on Friday. With the Lancers ahead  28-3 at the half, the  contest was all but over already.
Layton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Tillman Thomas led the charge by throwing for 336 yards and three  touchdowns.  Gavin Hurst was  Thomas' top target, picking up 53 receiving yards and one  TD, while also rushing for 36 yards and one  score.
 On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Layton's defense and their five sacks. In that department,  Parker LeDuc was the leader with two.
Layton's win  ended  a  four-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 3-8. As for Cedar Valley,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-9.
 Coming up, Layton will take on Corner Canyon at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,073 yards in their previous games. Cedar Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
