The Mt. Carmel Sundevils won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 73-27 loss at the hands of El Capitan. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 815th, while El Capitan is ranked 357th).
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Grace Weede, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Weede is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Mt. Carmel's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-14. As for El Capitan, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will take on Fallbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for El Capitan, they will play host again and welcome Monte Vista, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Vista is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
