The Monroe Central Golden Bears will head out on the road to face off against the South Adams Starfires at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Thursday, Monroe Central beat Yorktown 43-33. 43 seems to be a good number for Monroe Central as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Kimber Abshear and Sydney Patterson were among the main playmakers for Monroe Central as the former scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and the latter scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addy Puckett, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, South Adams was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 50-45 to Parkway.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Macy Pries, who scored 20 points. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Emmerson Smith was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Monroe Central's win lifted them to 8-2 while Yorktown's loss dropped them down to 5-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's contest: Monroe Central have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4 threes per game. It's a different story for South Adams, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 per game. Given Monroe Central's sizeable advantage in that area, South Adams will need to find a way to close that gap. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
