American hasn't had much luck against Washington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (American 3, Washington 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times American and James Logan had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles fell just short of the Colts by a score of 2-1 on Friday.
Meanwhile, while Washington put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Mission San Jose. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Warriors. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Hugo Marks made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Washington is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Marks was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Joseph Guerra and Ehkam Braich did most of the damage at the plate: Guerra got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Braich went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave Braich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Paek, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
American's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Washington, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. American has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
American came up short against Washington in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, falling 4-1. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
