Castro Valley has gone 9-1 against Encinal recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Jets at 4:00 p.m. Castro Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Castro Valley is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Piedmont just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 3-2.
Castro Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Seidel, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Encinal came out on top against Alameda on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Jets were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hornets. The Jets haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Darren Olson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eric Proctor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Evan Furuichi was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Encinal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Encinal's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Castro Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-5.
Castro Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Encinal when the teams last played back in March of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Jets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
