Basketball Recap: Redwood Skates Past Golden West with Ease

Redwood's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Golden West Trailblazers 54-18. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 943rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Redwood was led to victory by Jazmaine Stewart and Ahriel Madden. Stewart went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Madden almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Madden has posted since back in December of 2024. Savannah LaRue also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Redwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden West only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, Golden West still got an impressive performance from Aniyah Venegas, who posted 13 points. That was a full 72.2% of Golden West's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Redwood's record is now 14-12. As for Golden West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

Redwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-53 loss against El Diamante on the 4th. As for Golden West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-14 defeat against Monache on the 4th.
