Convent of the Sacred Heart has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Convent of the Sacred Heart comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
On Thursday, Convent of the Sacred Heart came up short against Marin Academy and fell 34-23. While losing is never fun, Convent of the Sacred Heart can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1044th, while Marin Academy is ranked 455th).
Lick-Wilmerding has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 68-54 bruising from San Domenico on Tuesday. Lick-Wilmerding has not had much luck with San Domenico recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Lick-Wilmerding saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Amaya Tavu, who scored 15 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Lacap, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Convent of the Sacred Heart dropped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.1 points per game. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.
Convent of the Sacred Heart took a serious blow against Lick-Wilmerding in their previous meeting on January 3rd, falling 57-11. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Convent of the Sacred Heart was down 29-7.
