Baseball Recap: Bonita Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Bonita unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Costa Mesa Mustangs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bearcats have suffered since March 27, 2025.

Bonita got a good showing from Ryder Gibson, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gibson is becoming a predictor of the Bearcats' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 4-2 (and 2-3-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Bonita saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Alexander, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bonita's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Costa Mesa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Bonita will host La Canada at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bearcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
