Mt. Pleasant hasn't had much luck against Overfelt recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cardinals will welcome the Royals at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Pleasant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Mt. Pleasant will bounce into Monday's game after beating James Lick, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 8-2 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won three in a row.

Nate Ortiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bryan Lopez Rodriguez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Rolon, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Overfelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Silver Creek, falling 12-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Royals haven't been shut out since back in March.
Overfelt saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ELIJAH CASTANEDA-AZCUETA, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Overfelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Pleasant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Overfelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mt. Pleasant skirted past Overfelt 4-2 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
