Grundy Center had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Marshalltown on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Bobcats 17-1. That looming 17-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Grundy Center pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Marshalltown, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
