Baseball Game Preview: Frontier Titans vs. Centennial Golden Hawks

Frontier has gone 8-2 against Centennial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Titans will take on the Golden Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Frontier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Frontier barely beat Highland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Titans were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Scots on Friday. Nine seems to be a good number for the Titans as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Landon Nettles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ronnie Machado was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Lievanos, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Stockdale typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Centennial proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Hawks.

Frontier has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.

Frontier took their win against Centennial in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-9 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
