Halifax is 1-9 against Greenwood since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Halifax Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greenwood Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Halifax scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tri-Valley and snuck past 43-41. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Halifax as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Halifax got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Savage out in front who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cameron Zimmerman, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Greenwood beat Susquenita 48-42 on Wednesday. The win was just what Greenwood needed coming off of a 49-29 defeat in their prior matchup.
Greenwood had a senior duo take command as Leah Ritzman scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks and Sophia Jezewski scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Ritzman hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Hale, who scored four points along with two blocks.
Halifax's win ended a 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-13. As for Greenwood, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Halifax have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Greenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 25.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Halifax might still be hurting after the 36-12 defeat they got from Greenwood in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Halifax, Jordan Stroup (who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
