Bear Creek hasn't had much luck against Lakewood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with 12 losses in a row, Bear Creek turned things around against Ralston Valley on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Mustangs. The game was the first time the Bears have beaten the Mustangs on their field since September 23, 2017.
Jiana Garduno was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chianna Morris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kylee Warner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Bear Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lakewood faced Arvada West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 6-5.
Madison Reisbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Abriella Aguilar was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Elena Borjas, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Bear Creek's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 4-15. As for Lakewood, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
