The Columbia Wildcats were the 53-41 winner over the Purvis Tornadoes when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Columbia suffered a tough 75-53 defeat at the hands of Purvis on Tuesday. Columbia has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Purvis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Vann Brewer out in front who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Brewer scored 15 or more points. Jacoby Robinson was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on 14 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists.
Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Purvis, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Columbia will head out on the road to face off against Poplarville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Poplarville is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Purvis, they will be playing at home against Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
