The Sto-Rox Vikings were the 49-26 winner over the Geibel Catholic Gators when they last played one another back in December of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Sto-Rox was the victim of a tough 52-29 loss at the hands of Geibel Catholic on Thursday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Geibel Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Larkin, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Larkin's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ava Henderson, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals.
Sto-Rox's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Geibel Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sto-Rox will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Brentwood at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Brentwood is ranked 601st, while Sto-Rox is ranked 620th). Geibel Catholic will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
