Seymour is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out to take on the Liberty Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Liberty took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Seymour, who comes in off a win.
Seymour had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt North Greene on Saturday. The Indians put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 19-2 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Nolan Sparks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Seymour got a massive performance out of Raulin Zehnle, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Zehnle has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lucas Davenport, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Liberty came up short against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on Friday, falling 12-5.
Reed Sparrow was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Luaders, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
Liberty now has a losing record of 0-1-1. As for Seymour, their record now sits at 2-0.
Seymour suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Liberty in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
