The Cristo Rey Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Faith Christian 69-22. While losing is never fun, Cristo Rey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1079th, while the Lions are ranked 371st).
Faith Christian was led to victory by Presley Berry and Lauren Harris. Berry dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds, while Harris shot 5-for-11 from deep and dropped a double-double on 31 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it 22 consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least a third of Faith Christian's points. Mia Bryan was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Cristo Rey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Faith Christian, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.
Cristo Rey will be playing in front of their home fans against the Capitals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Faith Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
