The Hamburg Lions can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Junction City and snuck past 56-54. For Hamburg, this counts as revenge for the 69-48 loss Junction City walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2018.
Loss or not, Junction City got some senior leadership from Montra Hankton who scored 22 points along with three steals and Deontae James who scored 16 points. Hankton scored a full 40.7% of Junction City's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dovonte ?Woody? Grimes, who scored six points.
Hamburg now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Junction City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamburg will face off against McGehee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Junction City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Harmony Grove at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. Harmony Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
