Basketball Recap: Paxon School for Advanced Studies Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Stanton last Wednesday, Paxon School For Advanced Studies came back down to earth. The Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fletcher Senators on Friday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Senators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Paxon School For Advanced Studies saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caelyn Carter went 9 of 22 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Carter's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeghan Hicks, who posted six points and eight steals.

Fletcher's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasmine Cross, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mikiah Sloan, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points.

Paxon School For Advanced Studies' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Fletcher, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Paxon School For Advanced Studies didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-51 defeat against Spruce Creek on the 21st. As for Fletcher, they will take on ED White in a tournament on Friday.
