SEED DC scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat BASIS 84-38 at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead SEED DC to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wendell Allsbrook, who scored 22 points along with five assists and two steals. Allsbrook has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Mercer, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, BASIS saw an underclassman step up: Timothy Chamberlain II scored 25 points. That was a full 65.8% of BASIS's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
SEED DC's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for BASIS, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. SEED DC will take on Richard Wright Public Charter School at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. SEED DC is coming into the contest with six straight wins on the road, so Richard Wright Public Charter School is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for BASIS, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against DC International at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (DC International is ranked 26th, while BASIS is ranked 41st).
