Hampton can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They breezed by New Castle on the road to the tune of 47-15. Given Hampton's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while New Castle is ranked 581st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mars suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 63-42 loss at the hands of Lincoln Park Performing Arts. Mars found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite their loss, Mars saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vita Vargo, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Cecilia Christy, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Hampton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Mars, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
