The Triton Trojans will challenge the Northridge Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Triton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Triton will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating LaVille, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Lancers 10-9 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Drew Bingamon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.
In other batting news, Max Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Gunnels, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northridge owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Plymouth. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Pilgrims: they've now won seven in a row.
Mason Zimmerman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northridge is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Gorball, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Lucas Eash was another key player, earning three runs and two stolen bases.
Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Triton's record now sits at 20-3. As for Northridge, their record is now 12-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Triton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
