Basketball Game Preview: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Quincy Trojans

Loyalton hasn't had much luck against Quincy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Loyalton Grizzlies will be taking part in a tournament against the Quincy Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Loyalton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Last Monday, Loyalton was fully in charge, breezing past Paradise Adventist Academy 56-20. The game marked the Grizzlies' most dominant win of the season so far.

It was another big night for Catherine Petterson, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Weaver, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Quincy escaped with a win on Saturday against Mt. Shasta by the margin of a single free throw, 37-36.

Quincy's win came from a few key players Loyalton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Skylar McCarthy, who had four points in addition to 12 boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Nussle, who posted seven points along with three steals and three blocks.

Quincy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Loyalton, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Loyalton has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Quincy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McCarthy, who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
