Bryan hasn't had much luck against Omaha Central recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Eagles at 11:00 a.m. Bryan has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bryan's tournament run continued when they took on Buena Vista on Friday. The Bears lost 12-2 to the Bison.
Bryan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nat Arens, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Omaha Central put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Burke. The Eagles blew past the Bulldogs 13-0. Considering the Eagles have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ada Jantzen was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Andrews, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Omaha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory snapped Omaha Central's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Bryan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.
Omaha Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Bryan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Omaha Central, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Bryan keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Bryan might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Omaha Central in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
