South was the  9-4 winner over West when they last played one another  back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans fell just short of the Vikings by a score of  10-9 on Tuesday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Josh Encinas was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he  struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits (and only one walk). Encinas was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in two of his six plate appearances.

 In other batting news, South got a  massive  performance out of  Alex Portillo, who  got on base  in five of his six plate appearances with three  stolen bases, three  runs,  and four  RBI. Portillo is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last three games he's  played.  Jose Bojorquez was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in five of his six plate appearances.
South's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for West,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 4-8.
 South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  game,  a  4-2  defeat against Arvin on the 2nd. As for West, they will challenge the Spartans at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
