Baseball Recap: Crestview Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mapleton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crestview). Everything went their way against the Mapleton Mounties on Friday as they made off with a 21-5 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Mounties recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Colton Ernandes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Carson Keener was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayn Patton, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Crestview back to even at 9-9. As for Mapleton, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Crestview will challenge Shelby at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mapleton, they will face off against Western Reserve at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
