The Millard West Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln East Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Millard West is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Millard West is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Westview, who was ranked 21st at the time (Millard West was ranked fifth). The Wildcats skirted past the Wolverines 2-0.

Not much got past Addison Burdorf, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Westview off the board. Burdorf has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Millard West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Bergman, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Lincoln East made easy work of Grand Island on Saturday and carried off a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lincoln East also got a great performance from Tessa Berner as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Berner a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Kallee Hemry and Chesney Haydon did most of the damage at the plate: Hemry went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Haydon went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Hemry has posted since back in August. Lucy Barrett was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Lincoln East hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Millard West's record now sits at 19-7. As for Lincoln East, their record is now 16-11.
Lincoln East's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Millard West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lincoln East, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 strikeouts. Will Millard West keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
Millard West came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln East in their previous matchup back in August, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
