Meanwhile, Franklin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 11-2. Considering the Wildcats have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Cody made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Dylan Wood tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Franklin got a massive performance out of Brandon Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was Williams' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Harris, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Oak Ridge's record is now 12-15. As for Franklin, their record now sits at 22-7.
Oak Ridge couldn't quite get it done against Franklin in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 4-1. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
