Northern Valley has gone 3-0 against Thunder Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Northern Valley Huskies just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Thunder Ridge Longhorns at 5:30 p.m.
In Friday's Canine Competition, Northern Valley didn't have enough. They were dealt a 52-23 loss at the hands of Weskan on Friday. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.
The losing side was boosted by Gavin Thalheim, who posted eight points along with ten boards and four steals.
Meanwhile, after only 17 points in their last matchup, Thunder Ridge made sure to put some points up on the board against Natoma on Tuesday. Thunder Ridge simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Natoma 55-24. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season.
Northern Valley better focus on containing Evan Slavik and Connor Engelke as the pair were huge in Thunder Ridge's win. Slavik dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Engelke went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Foreman, who had seven points and three steals.
Thunder Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Thunder Ridge now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Northern Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Northern Valley has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Thunder Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Northern Valley against Thunder Ridge when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 62-29 win. In that matchup, Northern Valley amassed a halftime lead of 40-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
