Wabash is a perfect 7-0 against Caston since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Apaches will challenge the Comets at 5:30 p.m. Wabash will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Wabash barely beat Southwood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Apaches put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 14-2 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Apaches have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jake Sailors and Mackey Sorg made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Sailors pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Sorg tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sailors got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Sorg went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That's the most runs Sailors has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Haiden McWhirt was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Robert Harris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Wabash always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
North Miami hit Caston with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Comets came up short against the Warriors, falling 10-4.
Parker Zimpleman made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Holloway, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Wabash's record now sits at 20-5. As for Caston, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wabash has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wabash beat Caston 7-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
