The Montgomery Red Raiders lost against the Benton Tigers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Montgomery fell just short of Benton by a score of 40-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Montgomery in their matchups with Benton: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Montgomery still got an impressive performance from Falin Reynolds, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Reynolds scored a full 55.3% of Montgomery's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Montgomery bumped their record down to 4-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Benton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery will take on Millville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Millville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday. As for Benton, they will head out on the road to face off against South Williamsport at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Williamsport is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
