Montwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Southern, who threw for 379 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Diego Oaxaca, who gained 167 total yards and three touchdowns.
Eastwood had a senior duo take command as Maximus Mancilla rushed for 214 yards and four touchdowns and Evan Minjarez rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Rudy Garcia was another key contributor, picking up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Montwood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Eastwood, the win was the seventh in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Montwood will head out on the road to face off against El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. El Dorado comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Eastwood, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Franklin at 7:00 p.m. Franklin is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
